I'm not exactly sure if this is even the right forum to ask this question, but here it goes.
I'm in a situation where one of my best friends gave me his laptop to fix. I suggested Ubuntu to him, and he was open to the idea, so I'm putting it on his laptop. However, the timing is a bit awkward; I'm putting Ubuntu on his laptop when the release of 13.04 is right around the corner. He's not exactly a computer-literate person like I am, so this is pretty new to him. I also hear that Ubuntu 13.04 is much more stable than even the final version of 12.10.
So the question is, should I still set the laptop up with 12.10, or would it be okay to put 13.04 on it?
I like the idea of 13.04, because it's more stable. But it's still a beta version as of now. Would the beta installation seamlessly become the final stable release over time, with the next batch of updates that it gets?
Or would I be playing it safer with 12.10?
