Hello,Recently for class we were given 1TB external hard drives with ubuntu 12.04 installed on them. The installation works fine on the computers in class and also on my mother's computer, but when i try to boot into it on my computer, i get the "error: invalid extent" followed by the "grub rescue>" I am quite tech savvy and can usually figure these things out, but i'll admit that my knowledge of linux is very, very limited. So i've narrowed it down to a problem with my bios configuration. I tried setting my sata controller to AHCI from IDE, but that still didn't help. Is there any other settings i could look to change to enable my computer to boot into ubuntu from the external hard drive? anyone have any suggestions as to why this could be happening? I'm just really confused because it works on other computers, but not mine so there is some kind of inconsistency happening between my computer and the hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated and i could answer any questions to the best of my ability.
