[ubuntu] Upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04 and lost launchpad

Last evening, I finally took the chance and upgraded from version 12.10 to 13.04. Everything seemed to go smooth until after rebooting. After rebooting, I have no launchpad or taskbar to launch applications or even turn the computer off from. Can anyone help?
