so, i 'm pretty new to ubuntu. i set up a home media server running 12.04 server, and setup a software raid5 array for it, following a tutorial. last night, there was a power failure, and when i tried to reboot i got a message saying the raid array was degraded. i booted anyways, and all my data is still there. i doubt that the drive actually failed. more likely it has become corrupted. although i do have a spare drive to replace it if needed.
how do i rebuild the array? i have found quite a few relevant posts, and have a basic idea how to proceed, but i could use some advice/direction.
what i have found out so far is that the array is mdp01, consisting of 4 drives, sda1-sdd1. the state of the array is listed as clean, degraded, and it seems that the drive sdb1 is the one with the problem, with its state listed as removed.
so, from what i can gather, i need to stop the array, and add the drive which has been removed back to the array and resync, but i can't seem to find out exactly how to do that.
thanks!
